A man in denial coping with his loved one's suicide.
her legs are shaking, she's overcome with fear
she steps forward and wipes away her tears
she's come this far, she can't turn back now
it just didn't seem so high up from her car window...

everybody's said some things that they didn't mean
I apologized the next day, I thought she had forgiven me
if I had known that her kiss good night was a kiss good bye
I would have made it up to her, I could have saved her life

she takes a deep breath and becomes engulfed with clarity
for the first time in years she feels emotional sincerity
she's in control now, nobody can hurt her but herself
she closes her eyes and jumps to her death to escape from all of this hell

I was working on my temper, I know I can get aggressive at times
but her wounds always healed, everything always ended up fine
if I had known that her kiss good night was a kiss good bye
I would have forbidden her to leave, I could have saved our lives

I can't remember the last time she smiled but she will today
I'll never be strong enough to say fairwell
but I'm ten stories high and one step away
from escaping this misery and joining her in hell
