A look at a very big issue in Education
Inaccurate Education

There are many issues in the United States. One in particular has drawn my attention, the inaccuracy of  textbooks in the educational system. For the most part, only portray one political view point. There are two major political parties that govern our great nation, Democratic and Republican. There are two general view points under each party, Liberal and Conservative. I like to think that both parties represent a balance that without the other could not be achieved. But that is not always the case, and it is relevant in this issue.  Even though text books are one sided this is only part of the problem.
Before researching this topic I always believed that text books were written by two or more author's.  I still believe that some still are.  Under that rational thinking I could understand how an history book  could have inaccuracies. Even a doctorate degree could not make you a subject matter expert on every topic in history.  In every history text book that I have ever read the author had added a few Left Wing induced paragraph's to sum up the conclusion of a subject.  Enough to make some events be portrayed inaccurately. A solution to this would be to only write the facts and not the politically driven point of view of the author.
During my research I discovered  an astonishing article titled The Muddle Machine: Confessions of a Text Book Editor by Tamim Ansary. This reveals the politics behind the process of making a text book. No material is researched, no one even writes some of these books! The writers are hired for name purposes only. So the publishing companies may hold most of the blame to the inaccuracy of text books today.
Unlike some issues in our society this is one that I believe can be fixed. One solution could be to  list both  Liberal and Conservative views for major topics of difference. For example global warming, list the Conservative and Liberal belief's on the subject in a few short paragraphs. Allowing the reader to form his conclusion. This system works so well we use it to decide the leader of our country.
Another as far as history is concerned is to use insert's from past and present historian's who have spent their entire lives researching one specific topic, time, or event. This should alleviate the second , third, or fourth editions to books unless the update is to current events.
The education system needs to perform a none bias scrutiny of the text books that are selected for schools. Not just to make sure the text book follows the outlines required of the state but to check the creditability of the content inside. This alone could better the situation of the watered down bloated text books of today.
