This is a poem I wrote about comfort.
The Perfect Listener


Welcome waiting wanting
a well-worn lover
clad in chintz


an occaisional embarrassment
kept behind closed doors
--covered in cat hair,
plied with coffee stains

waiting for me in the dim
every evening without fail
--the perfect listener

missed sorely during the day
settled into at night
--always before the hearth
completely comfortable

my favorite chair,
surrounded by my books
