This is a poem I wrote that is meant to be humorous and slightly dark at the same time.
Sugar-Crusted Fingernails


sneaking
creeping through the crumbs,
fingers covered in powdered sugar
--the stuff of childhood dreams


childhood long dead
lingers in the kitchen--
covering the shelves


powdered, stuffed, smothered,sugared
it's all there
--there to be grabbed, shoved
ENJOYED


until it's time to button
their pants
