You think you're helping someone you love but it turns out they are really helping you
Heart-wrenching lament of pain
Twined with steel-silk bonds of love
Your wounded soul cries out to me

Falling into the abyss of your past despair
I use my own hard-won rope of Life & Self
To find your hidden shining spark again

Taken into the one place deep in me
I never thought anyone to find at all
Tremulously I offer my hand to you

Gossamer gentle Truth
Open honest Love
Stubborn sheer Will
All overcome our remembered Fear

Then to my surprise I look up
To see you standing at the top
Of my hill of self-wrought doubt & neglect
Smiling, pulling me towards you
