Spacemen in a story for Daily Flash Fiction Challenge (300 words max)
Ray Guns
(word count 299)

"Be careful.  This planet is supposed to be inhabited by giant, four-legged monsters."

"I know that you idiot!  That is why I told you to bring the ray gun."

"You never told me to bring the ray gun."

"Are you trying to tell me you left the ray gun back in the spaceship?  I can't believe it! Now what will we do if we get chased by a giant monster?"

"You and your giant monster; I bet there are none of those big shaggy things for miles.  Besides, that ray gun never works right anyway.  I think a spring is broken in it or something."

Carefully, the two action heroes walked around a giant boulder on the hostile planet's surface.  Up ahead was what appeared to be a grassy hill.

"Let's go over to that hill and see if we can spot anything from up there."

"Still hoping to find that monster?"

"You better hope we don't find one.  Without our ray gun, we would get eaten for sure."

Batman couldn't believe that Spiderman was so afraid of a giant monster.  What a sissy.

As they climbed the hill, they noticed that the ground seemed to be moving.

"Spiderman, are we having an earthquake?"

"No you idiot!  We're not climbing a hill.  We're climbing the side of a monster!  I told you we needed a ray gun."

Daisy stood up and stretched.  She had been having such a nice dream before being so rudely awakened by the two boys.

"Bobby, Tommy!  Put those things away and wash up.  It's time for dinner."

"Okay Mom," they said in unison.

Tossing the two toys into a corner, they ran to the bathroom.

"Do you think Bobby and Tommy will play with us more later?" Batman asked hopefully.

"Shh!  They'll hear us."
