After divorce, we all have a choice to make....
My wife has finally left me,
As the final door is slammed,
And the empty hallway echoes
With the silence of the damned.
Surrounded now by stillness,
I sit finally alone,
There'll be no happiness again,
In this cold and lonely home.

The trials in this world are many,
And the perils doubly so,
I strive to remain above them all,
But only God will know.
Temptation taints so many,
But my hand is neatly gloved,
As the only thing I wanted,
Was to love and to be loved.

While I'm patiently doing penance
In this harsh, unfriendly world,
Are the ethics of our fathers,
Through the window, swiftly hurled?
I am alone, upon a rock,
While others in the river's flow,
Go swiftly by and vanish,
To a fate I'll never know.

Alone I'll sit, alone I'll wait,
To look upon tomorrow,
And should I walk with head bowed down,
T'will be with weight of sorrow.
I worry not, for time will heal,
And time will dry the tears.
My wasted love is my only regret,
As I calmly await the years.

The multitudes upon the hill,
Are singing as they wait,
But I prefer the solitude,
To greet the hands of fate.
Come dance and sing and join us,
Is the cry throughout the land,
But my empty hallway echoes,
With the silence of the damned.
