Godzilla has a bad day at work for flash fiction challenge
Godzilla rumbled into his sub-volcanic lair and sat down with an earth trembling thump. His better half, Maxine was there in a flash. She knew how Godzie liked an after work martini before dinner.

“So? How was work today?” she asked, already knowing the answer. Not good. It had been on the news all day.

“It was a rough one today Max. Sometimes I think it’s time that I find another line of work; maybe down at the used car lot. Your dad said he would always have a spot for me.”

“Oh come on now,” Maxine said. She walked around behind him and began to massage his shoulders. “You know you would hate that. Besides, where would I find a suit that would fit you?”

“I know, I know. It’s just that, well, it seems like it is all so senseless. I tear down a sky scraper and they put up two more. They shoot at me with a gun so I eat a guy. He is replaced by five more right then and there. I can’t eat them all. Do you have any idea how many carbs are in your average soldier?”

Maxine was worried. This seemed serious. “What happened that made today worse than all the other days?”

“They have a new long-range air-to-monster missile. That really pissed me off. It was also extra hot today. Do you have any idea how it feels to walk down Fifth Avenue on a day like today, with no shoes? It’s a killer,” he said, snickering quietly at his accidental pun.

“Well dear, I am sure things will be better tomorrow,” comforted Maxine.

Godzilla checked his PDA. “Actually, you may be right. Boston is in town to play the Yankees. Fans filled with Brats and beer. Yummy!”
