This was written in memory of someone near and dear to my heart who passed away last year.
the day you left
a mountain of tears dropped stains on my cheeks
I try to imagine how you felt the day he pulled the trigger
were you scared
did you feel it coming
did you pray for him
your own flesh and blood
your son
did he wish he could turn back time and bring you back
the only one that was really ever there for him
I saw him on the news looking haggard and old
he'd aged ten times his twenty years
heard the other day he got 2 life sentences
and that she got 27 years
but that was just wishful thinking
he wrote a letter taking sole responsibility for the crimes
but that still wont bring you back
on birthdays and especially holidays
your smile
your laughter
being the ref to three hot headed Virgos always butting heads
hearing the phone ring knowing it cant ever be you
those stains will forever be painted on my cheeks
only eased by the sense of peace that your in a better place
so I pray that like a guardian angel your watching over me
but most of all I pray for him because you loved him with all your heart
you never gave up on him even in the very end
I miss you  Grace and by the grace god one day well me again
