The poem I gave my girlfriend when she went to Europe for a month.
Can’t help but think you might leave my side
Can’t help but be scared of saying goodbye
To soon have I loved, and given you my trust
And I hope you know what I feel is love and not lust
Can’t help but think you of every day and night
Can’t help but be scared of getting in a fight
So many things that could hurt us both
But what can I say except I can’t help it.
I don’t want you to leave, its going to be the death of me
You might come back home and have nobody to see
Or will you find some guy over there
Who can treat you the way you deserve to be
But even knowing this I know I can’t back out
I made you a promise for life, no regrets or doubts
No matter the trouble and tears you bring
I keep my head high and ignore the bad things
Because the joy you bring is greater than any pain
It’s the joy that keeps me from going insane

I can’t help but know that I can’t be without
Your love makes me feel something that I’ve never felt
Can’t help but see the storms to come
But trying to ignore and look for the bright sun
Can’t help but call you in the middle of the night
If I could, I’d never let you out of my sight
Because my dream is for us to always stay together
If you could promise me that, I’d wait for you forever
If you only knew how hard it is to let you go
To know you’ve left me in body and soul
To see you board the next plane out of my heart
Taking that half of it with you, ripping it apart
And I’ll wait here, and admit defeat
Cause without you baby I’m incomplete

Can’t help it that you’ve stolen my soul
And now you’ve become the one in control
Can’t help but follow you like a dog
Whether you lead me to light or fog
Can’t help but worship you in a sickening way
Every day and night for you I pray
Can’t help but worry what the future may hold
Whether those futures hold diamonds or mold
Because times are bring lots of rains, and a lot of tears
But, I know behind the cloud, sunshine is somewhere
It will bath me in light and wash away my sorrow
And when the sun comes it will also bring me a rainbow
