Poem about a forgotten and forsaken girl getting through life alone.
Gently
The wind whips
Across the trees
As the rain
Falls to the cold ground
In a hush.

Quietly
She steps
Barefooted
Across the wet earth
She's alone
She's free
She's curious.

Beauty
She seems to be
The very essence of it.
She captures every eye
and keeps it.

So beautiful
So lovely
Yet so very, very lonely.

Seems as if
She has everything.
First glance,
One look
would tell you so,
But at second
and third glance
You would see
She has nothing
Has nobody
And she's forgotten...
She's alone.

She steps
Gracefully along
The wet earth
Alone
And independent
Forgotten
And forsaken
Left alone
To live a life
Where darkness reigns all.

And she steps.
Farther and farther
She walks.
Trying to escape
Trying to just walk
Away from it all
In hope of finding
Some light
Some hope
A place to rest
And someone to lean on.

Hush
All is quiet
Slowly
Leaves fall
From their perches
On the trees

Quietly
Rain falls from the sky
To the ground
Her feet touch the earth
Hoping for a new beginning
And for a new hope.
Just wanting to know
Compassion
Hope
And Love.

In a world
Where darkness reigns
Searching for an escape
She steps...
