NO ONE IS YOUNG

"You're still young yet"
you've got your whole life ahead of you . . ."
Even when I first heard
those words when I was
twenty-five, I knew
them with a sixty-year-old heart
and felt them with a
whole pile of years behind me.
No one may ever truly grow
up entirely, but no one is young.
Everyone is old and dying.
When we turn one, we turn one
hundred and we go through
the years catching up--
