thought after my daughter called crying to me
YOU CRIED TO ME

You call me with that cry, as if you are a baby needing food
I work up the courage to ask what is wrong-knowing I really
Don’t want to know because to know I might need to give advice or just be upset for you and want to fix it.
You cry so hard and long I want to reach through the lines and hold you near my chest like I did when you were young. I try to have the answers-are you seeking them? I try yet to just listen-is that what you need? I want to come and get you and make it all go away, yet you push me not to. They never told me in the manual what to do at this point in our relationship; they never actually gave me a manual of how to do any of this. My advice if remembered is “if it does not kill you it makes you stronger” that is all I can come up with in the middle of these late calls I receive out of nowhere. I want so badly to beat up the bullies and make it all go away with an I love you baby, but that does not work anymore in growing pain situations at your age. So we hang up. Me wondering what you are going to do, where you are going and how long will you cry, I hate it when you cry so hard and long. You cried to me but the tears never leave they scar me. I hope they fall off your cheeks and never come back to haunt you. I will hold them for you the rest of your life and hope to feed them back to you when we get older and we share our life experiences and laugh at them, and we will laugh until we cry the fun tears. But until then let me carry some of the burden now and then and cry for you. I will cry for you every night until you know what you want in your life and are really happy and not so confused. Please let me cry for you?
