ALWAYS WAITING

Childhood, woman or manhood, parenthood and more,
it seems we are always waiting for what's in store!
Every child waits to be grown up, imagining the best
of all that their life has to offer, to fulfill every quest.

Womanhood comes (and manhood just as well)
leaving them waiting with visions of Heaven and hell.
What to do with their lives? Do they know the score
or do they just keep on waiting for something more?

Motherhood, fatherhood, they reach with such pride
and a feeling of contentment deep down inside.
They wait for first word, for first step and then try
to envision a bright future for each little girl or guy.

Now they have grown old and some dreams came true,
You would think that at last their waiting was through.
Alas, as they age and start to look back at their years,
they find they are always waiting, at times with tears.

I think God must look down and smiles at each one
who now believe that their time of waiting is done.
His lambs wander, yet He will not leave them alone
He watches, always waiting for them to come home.
