A young woman is viciously confronted with a painful truth. [Some strong language]
“How dare you,” I breathed, stumbling backwards, away from him.  “How dare you stop loving me?” my face flushed and I felt my eyes burn as I looked into his.  He stared back at me, his gaze uncaring, cold as ice.  Suddenly something inside me snapped and I felt rage burning through my veins, and I strode towards him, hands balled at my sides.  I slammed my fists into his chest with all the force I could manage, and he barely flinched.  He looked down at me and his eyes flashed, brows knitting together in anger.
“Don’t you hit me,” he whispered, grabbing my shoulders in his hands. I pushed at him, trying to gain some ground, but his fingers gripped my shoulders painfully.  “You’re nothing,” he breathed, voice laced with poison.
I shuddered, his words hitting me like a slap, and I felt my legs give way beneath me.  He pushed me away from him as I fell, and I hit the concrete hard, wrists jarring as I threw my hands backwards to catch myself.  I sat where I’d landed, fighting to breathe.  I could feel my world collapsing around me and I pulled my legs in to my body, nails driving into my calves as I fought to stop myself shaking.  I looked up and saw him gazing down at me, lips curled back in distaste.
“Why?” I asked, not managing to keep the waver out of my voice.  “What did I do to deserve this indifference from you?”
“Nothing,” he replied, his voice like ice.  “You never did anything.  You never were anything.  I never loved you.”
My insides burned, and I felt bile rise in my throat.  I could feel my heart pounding and I suddenly wanted nothing more than to rip it beating from my chest.  I wrapped my arms around my middle, holding my torso together.
“Why did you lie to me?” I whimpered, my entire body trembling.  “Why did you say you loved me?”  He shrugged down at me, eyes coloured with spite.  I pushed myself to my feet, my blood boiling.  “How could you hurt me like this?” I screamed, my face inches from his.  “What the fuck did I do to deserve this?”
I beat his chest with my fists, throwing my rage into each punch. “I love you. You made me love you. Why would you do this to me? What the fuck is wrong with you?”
His full armed slap caught me off guard and I fell to the ground, my head hitting the concrete with a crack.  “You’re nothing!” he roared, his voice thick with fury.  “I hate you! I wish you were dead!”  His heavy boot hit my side with a sickening crunch as I felt one of my ribs break.  I screamed in agony as pain shot through my torso and my back arched, my body on fire.  His blows rained down on me, his boot connecting with my side over and over as I tried to cry out again, but nothing came.  Suddenly he stopped, and I heard his heavy footsteps as he ran away from me, leaving me lying broken in the street.  I lay on the ground, dragging air into my lungs, waiting for unconsciousness to take away the pain.
