The day the dragons arrived was a dark day for us all, we didn’t expect it in the least. We all thought that dragons were from stories or at most a form of dinosaur that was exaggerated beyond belief, that’s why when the first showed up it was on the news as a hoax, how wrong we were.
That soon changed as more started to arrive. Where they were coming from nobody knew at first and we didn’t start to worry so much in the beginning due to the fact that they stayed away from us, they chose areas such as national parks and areas of large forest, they mostly stayed as far north as possible but once there numbers started to grow they had no option to spread out and now they are going as close to the equator as Brazil, the Amazon rainforest is there newest breeding ground.
Living in the city we were one of the last places to get affected by them, but it did eventually happen as we all knew it would, they started to invade our ‘urban jungle’.
What were the military doing about this you may ask, well apart from covering there own tails, they were capturing a few of the young dragons and experimenting with everything from basic poisons to controlled nuclear or naypalm exposure. Needless to say as you can see from our current situation none of these things worked, on the contrary the nuclear exposure caused multiple young to transmogrify into grotesque acid spitting behemoths almost five times the size of the original dragons.
Many fled to the sea on cruise ships as this was the one place the dragons didn’t seem interested in, this was maybe a bit rash but for some it seemed the last option once there homes had been incinerated, may farms had there crops burnt in the soil they were growing in or had the sheep and cattle consumed for the dragons like a giant buffet. A fleet of research teams started searching the ends of the earth for a sign of the origins of these once mythical beasts, we had few lines on communication left to us, as like with everything else, the dragons were slowly destroying television stations, radio towers and any other form of transmitting a signal.
The last transmition heard from a research vessel, the aptly named ‘Sea Serpent’, was that they were just around the areas where the polar ice caps were melting and there was such a large concentration of not only live dragons but what seemed like much older fully grown and dead dragons in this area, they had the most terrible suspicions, which they hoped were wrong but to there dismay were proved correct. The true origins of the dragons were revealed to them by fact of a site that met there eyes one foggy morning as the bridge crew was relieved from there night duties.
This site they described as “terrible news”, I personally think that much of an under statement, was of a young dragon trapped inside a block of ice boring it’s way out with it’s fiery breath, in the progress of the morning they continued watching this site in great rapture, finally as the dragon eased it’s huge form out of the remains of the ice block it mimicked an action most people will be familiar with of shaking it’s great wings to return blood flow to it’s immense area of muscle sinew and veins in the same fashion as a butterfly emerging from it’s chrysalis. As they stayed, in great danger to themselves, to witness this extraordinary natural phenomenon the surprises did not seem to stop dazzling them, once there were thousands of dragons of all sizes out of the ice they started to hear wild screeching and wailing sounds vaguely similar to whale song, this immediately drew the dragons attentions as they again started en mass to melt more and more ice, this apparently we were told went on for a handful of days, until it was thought one of the crew saw something that could be described best with just one word Nessie. After that we heard no more from the crews of any of the research boats, we even started to get fewer and fewer reports from civilians until even they stopped reporting.

We believe we are all that is left.
I am the daughter of a military Officer; we were brought here to the top secret fallout shelter when I was 13, now I am 34.
