Hanging out with my best friend
"Colors"

Be the change you wish to see
She’s written all over her room
Like it’s the only sanctuary she has left
And maybe it is
And I sit on her black and white bed
Like I’m the only friend she has left

Pearl Jam’s Black grunges away
As she sits at her white computer on her white desk
And we’re trying to sing together
Except she doesn’t know the words
And I don’t know how to sing

I scan the room from left to right
From the purple shades that stop the lights
From coming in the window
Even though it’s night time now and black outside
All the way to the tapestry with bizarre circles
Of gold and grey and brown

All so I don’t have to look at her
Because she’s beautiful like a classic black and white photograph
And I’m afraid she’s going to stop the music
My favorite
And put on The Kooks

Justin likes them
She likes him
And I sit on her black and white bed
Like she’s the only friend I have left.
