“Valentine’s Day”

It’s just me. Alone on a bench,
Each passing second a passing thought.

And I’m not wondering if my ex is still thinking of me,
Nor about who my next is going to be:

It’s just me. Alone on a trail,
Air whispering to my face about how beautiful the world can be.

Worn gravel crunches underneath my feet,
The serenity of nature is pure and sweet:

But it’s just me. And I’m still alone.
