“My collection of books. All of which I’ve read!” He said.
He screamed: his ideas beamed from his head to paper,
Screen, the notes in the air and colors.
“No no no no no! None can figure me out
To take apart and try me-
Well you can’t!” He told me-

He was much smarter.
Behind his thick sheets,
Behind every letter was a glimpse.
Dashing back and forth this way and that,
Closing his eyes and shaking his head inch by inch.

It wasn’t like this before, was he?
On the walk home I kicked rocks.
I tried reading what he told me,
I fell asleep and dreamed of you
Calling me on the telephone.

I’m awake early
To study
To defeat this terrible golden shadow, it’s dumb.
My head hurts and this guy over here-
He sits shaking and numb-legged behind a cold set of fake knowledge
Catching his bland tears
And staring his reflection down
As practice. Ha!

Warm day,
We all agreed
It’s ok to look,
For now. As long as
We’re seen.
