letting the muse run wild

Two Cents Worth

I saw the world was crashing down
and thought it was a crime
that all the poor were left to drown;
two cents worth for a dime.

Life it seems is one big deal
some can't make the climb,
some will lose and never heal;
two cents worth for a dime.

Money is the Devil's trigger,
he plays you with his mime,
games he plays you'll never figure;
two cents worth for a dime.

I watched the waves caress the sand
and marked this peaceful time,
all the rest slipped through my hand;
two cents worth for a dime.
