An older person anticipating spring.
Nothing gold can stay by Robert Frost

*Flower6* One More Spring *Flower6*

Will I be around to see spring this year?
I’ve seen many others, shed many a tear.
For the joy and happiness life can bring,
When I see flowers that bloom, birds that sing.

With anticipation, still I can’t wait
For warm, gentle breezes, rains to bring bait.
To see grass turn green and daffodils bloom,
Watching bluebirds preen and feral cats groom.

Old as I am I still get a tingle,
When bunnies come out and start to mingle.
Winter was cold just a few days ago,
Blustery winds, icy storms, drifting snow.

Chills will be memories, erased from thought,
Sunlight on dewdrops waiting to be caught.
Hoes are standing by to dig in the earth,
Sowing a garden with plants to give birth.

I’ll get out the Windex to clean up the glass,
Tune up the mower and fill it with gas.
Bring out the short shorts, put away the coats,
Get ready for fun on friends’ fishing boats.

I pray that I will see springtime once more,
Bumblebees, mosquitoes, butterflies soar.
I’ll love them all just to have one more chance,
Barefoot in moonlight, my favorite dance.
