I wrote this about my close friend when I finally realized that she'd grown up.
I thought I could do it
Now I’m not so sure
The feelings that are here now,
Weren’t there before

My heart is shattered
from hitting the floor
A wave of agony
has overcome more

It’s a big sister’s nightmare
to watch the younger ones
take off into
the great unknown

I’ve watched you grow
and sprout your wings.
Now as I watch you take off
like an eagle with the wind
beneath it’s wings

My heart is shattered
from hitting the floor
A wave of agony
has overcome more

You’ve grown up
before my own eyes
And what a wonderful,
caring person you’ve turned out to be

But when I saw you
driving in solo
I knew that this was it
That this would change us forever

My heart is shattered
from hitting the floor
A wave of agony
has overcome more

But I know that if today
you were to turn and drive away,
You’d come back one day
just to say hey

I know, deep within my heart,
that we’ll always be
the best of friends.
And no one can tear us apart

My heart is mending
I’ve picked the pieces off the floor
But thru all this, I’ve realized something,
I love you so much more.
