This was going to be about sparrows.
My wife saw a robin the other day,
I looked and looked but saw none.
Perhaps it hopped or flew away.
Maybe winter really isn't done.

Little orange-breasted friend,
please visit my lonely lawn,
so I know cold weather's end.
It looks barren; snow is gone.

A flicker of light I finally see,
small bill poke, poking around.
Now that brings a smile to me.
The robin tugs at what he found.

The spring time birds come back.
The ground sheds its ice pack.
