This poem is a bit dark, but at its heart, it is a love story first and foremost.
A love like ours, stronger with each hour
No one could understand, so we made our love a tower
Where only you and I could go
High above the world below
Melting in each other's arms
So seamlessly...

Days of strolling in the fields
Among primrose and pale lilies
So it was, our love story
Then they came, the earth-quakers
The tower-shakers
The heart-breakers

We moved that tower to the sky
And from there we said good-bye
To the thorns that pained us
To all those that chained us
Away from each other

From our tower in the clouds
We listened closely to the sounds
Of the world passing us by
Still high
On the winds of love

You were the polar star in my bleak, endless sky
I was the lone treasure you said caught your eye
Together we lived
Together as one
Until those earth-quakers
Eclipsed our new sun
They swore they wouldn't rest
'Til this love was done

They quaked
The clouds were rumbling
Our tower started crumbling
Life, it started fumbling
And before we knew it
Our tower fell

You said we could re-build again
But I couldn't do it and
Fell into a crack within
The earth, barren
Which swallowed me so utterly
Now there was nothing left to see
If there's no "us"
Then there's no "me"
That's what I chose

Because our love
Could never be.
