Is being published in Eiber adn Wein's poetry anthology Visions and Verses.
I tried to keep track with tallies on a wall
But the marks became too much, so the wall had to fall
Red lines on a calendar marked the days,
but it soon got filled up, so I threw it away.
The red marks scar my mind like they do to my skin
But the tallies never stop so I start over again.
Days pass too quickly but months go by slow,
So the red lines accumulate with nowhere to go.
I tried to keep track with tallies on my wall
But the marks became too much, so the wall had to fall
Red lines on a calendar marked the days,
but it soon got filled up, so I threw it away.
The red marks scar my mind like they do to my skin
But the tallies never stop so I start over again.
Days pass too quickly but months go by slow,
So the red lines accumulate with nowhere to go.
You get used to the process after a while,
The only thing that hurts is your fake painted smile.
I tried to keep track with tallies on a wall,
But the marks became too much, so the wall had to fall…
