Introducing: Devin Drakkia, Vampire Hitman Extraordinaire. very short chapter
Chapter Two

“Devin Drakkia,” a rough female voice said coldly, and the prisoner spun around, a look of surprise on his face. She smiled. “You don’t want your captors to know who you are; don’t have your ID in your wallet when you get captured.”
“In my defense,” Devin said, smiling a little, “I wasn’t counting on getting captured.”
“Shooting down your defense,” she retorted, scowling at him with emerald eyes, “you should always expect the unexpected.”
“Is that what they teach you at the Vampyre academy?” he asked in an amused tone. His captor’s scowl deepened. She flicked back a strand of her short dark hair with one pale hand.
“We learn a lot of things in the Academy. Why would I tell you any of that?”
“Because you’re dying to brag to someone, and since your charge already knows, that ruins pretty much your only opportunity to do so.”
“I’m glad Tanzee knows how to protect herself,” she practically growled at him, glaring angrily. “In fact, I’m the one who got her enrolled. Now we’re the best team there is.”
“Ah, yes, the beauty and the brain, right?” Devin laughed. “And tell me, Brain, what is your name?”
“Why should I tell you?” she repeated.
“Because,” he explained, “I’m your prisoner, and we are talking. I already know your companion’s name. It’s nice to know the name of the person with whom you’re conversing. Besides,” he added, “You know my name. It’s only fair.”
She stood there watching him, deliberating. Finally, “I’m Lina.” Then she turned and walked out, locking the door behind her. Devin leaned back in the hard wood chair, hands behind his head, grinning as he watched her leave.
