I'm watching the clock. And I'm waiting.
A/N: Time never seems to go at the pace you want it to and it's so easy to miscalculate it. I'd definitely call that a pitfall.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Time was passing slowly. Why was it passing so goddamn slowly?

I shifted uncomfortably and gulped, flinching every time I heard the ticking of the clock. It seemed to be unbearably loud in the silence surrounding me like a bubble.

It shouldn’t be this quiet. It’s because they’re all waiting, I realized. Waiting for time to pass and watching the clock. Just like me.

Sweat started to build on my forehead and a drop travelled down my temple. Slowly. Much too slowly. Just like time.

The air around me buzzed with excitement and maybe a touch  of apprehension. What if the time stopped? What if that moment we were all waiting for never arrived? A ridiculous thought, but that had never stopped a scared child from fearing the monster under it’s bed, just like it didn’t stop me from biting my nails in anxiety. Because I knew the moment would come. The moment I had been waiting for had to come, because time couldn’t just stop. It might slow down and move at the pace of a slug, but it never stopped.

Even though it may seem like it did. My eyes were glued to the clock once again, watching the hands of the clock with a weird fascination. How many seconds, minutes, hours had passed while I was sitting here, my fingers drumming on the table nervously and sweat dripping off my forehead?

Not enough, because I was still waiting. We all were.

But the moment kept coming nearer. If I could wait just a little bit longer, it would finally be over.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

It was torture. The clock was tormenting me with it’s rhythmic ticking. It never sped up, never slowed down and still it seemed to slow right before my eyes.

My eyes widened a fraction. The moment was near. Soon, it would be over. Not only for me, but for all of us. No more waiting.

Just a few more seconds. A few more…

Riiiiiiiiing.

A loud, almost hysterical cheer arose and the excitement was incredibly clear now, the apprehension gone completely. Chaos ensued quickly as a large crowd moved towards the door, some punching and kicking their way through the masses.

My relief made me feel light-headed and I grinned madly as I grabbed my bag and followed my classmates out of the exit, happy that I would have to wait for the weekend no longer.
