After a thought-provoking visit to our daughter in Auckland. The question of who is whom?
Confusion or Fusion?

I am my daughter's mother
And I'm the daughter of my own
And now my daughter has a daughter
And a son so she's not alone

But letting go is so confusing
Seeing pain beyond belief
The struggle and the torment
Gives way to small relief
When we try to help with little things
Like paying for a meal
Or maybe for the ballet lessons
Or for the car a wheel.

But letting go is still confusing
Revisiting is a must
Seeing similarities and differences
In dust which turns to dust

The messages we thought we gave
When parenting ourselves
Have been translated with some change
Like books on many shelves
The memories we thought would stay
Have faded long ago
And new ones do present themselves
As onward we all go.

So let us up and celebrate
Let's laud this thing called fusion
And carry on with living now
And cause someone else confusion.
