My very first poem! Don't worry ~ it's okay to laugh!
Once upon a time I was goin' a fishin' ~ I came upon a big, ol' pond.
There were pretty girls all over, some with brown hair, some blond.
I was embarrassed 'cause all alone there I stood ~
I wanted to whistle but there was no way I could.

I decided to be a big boy, rough and tough ~
so I went out there and showed 'em my stuff.
I reeled in fish after fish with my new fishin' rod ~
I looked at them girls and gave 'em a nod.

I picked out a pretty lass to be my girlfriend,
but her beau quickly brought that dream to an end.
I picked out another one that would do just fine
and I knew right then that she was mine, all mine.

I walked on over and sat down beside her ~
that's when I noticed she was drinking some cider.
I leaned over ~ asked if I could have a sip.
That's when it happened ~ I touched her lip.

It didn't take long for me to notice her smile ~
it was the prettiest darned thing I'd seen in a while.
We talked for hours; I even forgot about fishin'.
To spend all my time with her is what I was wishin'.

As we walked off I held her hand tightly in mine ~
her skin was so soft it sent shivers up my spine.
From the stories I've heard, I'm thinkin' I'm in love
with a beautiful angel sent to me from above.
