This is how young love works in the 21st centuary.
COMPASSION FATIGUE

Written by Adam Kyles

Your breaking soul is staring at me from my bathroom
Teary eyed and dripping wet as you light another cigarette
You ask what could cause the tiredness and the aches
You’ve been living on the streets for three nights straight
This happens when you fight this hard just to survive
You can’t remember what it felt like just to feel alive

Whenever you asked for a date I was your walking ATM
You were fond of me but that was never enough for you
I gave it up willingly yet I claim to have so many regrets
You’re the idea of a trophy girlfriend turned upside down
Having nothing to show from the bills I just handed to you
Clearing debt by going to yet another credit card company

I am the record of the family that hit and abandoned you
Memoir of the neighbourhood gangs who targeted you
Guy Richie movie heroine who jumped down from grace
It’s always the tough guys who are his favoured heroes
I’m not even Romeo but this is your last scene Juliet
Time for the tragic lover to walk off this pointless stage

My eyes show I’m gazing into the past not the bathroom
You saved me from my self when I was like you are now
I got a chance to be a hero but my friends loved me more
You’re too immature to share but you grew up too soon
But us both having scars is not the basis for a relationship
Its my heart and you can find your own way out this time
