What really counts in life.
As I see life through the lens,
I find:

The corn fields,
The bucolic plains,

The blistering heat,
The romantic rains,

Failed love,
Those pains,

Drunken debauchery,
Losing sense,

The clever trickery,
The masks of pretense,

The agonizing losses,
The fleeting gains,

What counts in the end?
As the life wanes,

Losses and gains?
Joys and pains?

None of these,
Ladies and gents,

Nothing counts more than
A few good friends.
