The quest to move on.
Onward and upward, hither and yon,
New lives created, a new day will dawn.
A look ahead to the new, the past over the shoulder,
Though wounds may be fresh, each second they grow older.

Time provides healing, and distance makes you fond,
Bad habits forgotten, and a look to the beyond.
With a shrug of the shoulder to steady the weight,
The present is waiting, and longs to create.

So now steps will be taken and ground will be covered,
The flames of renewal can't be easily smothered.
And a smile is cracked like a flaw in a mirror,
Like the sun turning outward, bringing up the rear.
