The intensity of the bond between us
My speed increases with each step I take
I run with all my strength and might.
All my troubles and worries I try to put away,
I also fight the tears that sting my eyes...
at least until I get home.

I push through the door with tenacious tears in my eyes
I see the questions on the face I've been longing to see for a while
I just can't hold back the tears to myself
I run into the outstretched awaiting arms.

I cry with all the vigour I have left,
as if my tears would wash away the pain I felt
We stand and hold each other, while I let my tears free,
her heart reaching out to tell me all will once again be well.
Just as tears soak her clothes, and more tears rush to me,
memories of this same position flash through my mind.

When I'm happy and when I'm sad,
when I'm depressed or when upset,
when I'm scared and need assurance,
even when I'm confident in myself.
When I'm dissappointed or impressed,
a hug always seems to fit.

The hug that encourages the both of us,
that speaks out our emotions and feelings.
the hug that is never lacking
that assures I can count on her.
Our hug is very special to us
the thing we share that keeps us high...
Just my mum and I.
