A poem I wrote on an airplane.
I'm running down an empty street
Frantically searching for anyone to reassure me of my existence
My skin is ice cold
I cannot feel myself standing
I scream hoping someone will hear my voice
But I remain alone
the echo of my footsteps is all that keeps me company
The streetlights above guide my vision
But quiet blackness surrounds me
My head is spinning as I continue to move forward
My fingernails scratch bricks as I feel my way through this place
I am terrified
Suddenly I jolt
My eyes slowly open
To a familiar place
bright all around me
I am relieved to be free
Lucky that my dreams remain in my sleep
