Short poem about growing up and facing reality
Bows

Confused little girl with a bow in your hair
your all grown up now,
you’ve learned what’s fair.
The spinning world may have pushed you way too fast,
but you knew those childish games could not last.
Stand up tall and look the world in the eye-
little girls sit down and cry.
So untie the bow and let down your hair
Big girls live, while little girls sit and stare.

You played your violin, innocent and sweet,
but now it’s time to grit your teeth.
No more deceiving music that used to hide your lies.
Life is a stage, so take a bow.
Curtain closes, audience sighs.
“Encore, Encore,” everyone cries,
curtain goes up, bright lights are high.
“Gasp,” the truth is revealed-
Big girls tell lies even pretty bows can not conceal.
