A phone call that takes a turn for the worst.
“In my opinion, we don’t put nearly enough scientific research into finding a cure for jerks,” Alyssa said, multi-tasking by venting to her best friend on the phone while also trying to complete her biology homework.
“I mean I just can’t believe him! He never admits when he’s wrong, never lets me live it down when he proves me wrong, and never thinks about my happiness or what I want. It’s ridiculous!” Alyssa loved getting her feelings out by talking to Molly. She was the ultimate best friend and a great listener. Whenever Alyssa needed to ramble on about something, Molly patiently waited until she was done, absorbing every word and preparing to help her friend out as much as she could.
“Danny should just be pushed off a cliff,” Alyssa continued, “Then maybe he could relate a little bit to all the pain he puts me through. I know he’s a good boyfriend most of the time, but I swear, sometimes he just doesn’t know when to-“
“ALYSSA.” Danny’s deep voice finally spoke up. Silence replaced her unending tangent. Then she questioned whether she had pushed the hold button on her phone when Molly’s call had beeped in, rescuing her from the argument her and Danny were in.
“Is it still…you, Danny?” She slowly choked out the words. A sarcastic laugh came through the phone before she heard the reply through the phone.
“Oh no, this isn’t Danny. He got pushed off a cliff, just like you wanted, remember?”
