note to a friend, love once had, now lost
As I drift out of sleep, I awake to your embrace,

The sigh of your breath, caressing my neck,

The feel of your hand languishing upon my chest,

I turn and gaze upon your face.

You are singularly beautiful,

Alluring and unique, and

The feelings I have wash over me.

Like the seasons you affect me,

Emotions tumbling to an end,

I am Lost and blind,

And I stumble in your fall.

Stripped of all direction and certainty

I feel the bitterness of winter approaching

And can only stand steady, unyielding against the cold.

Crashing over me the shock and bite are unbearable,

But I know I must persist.

With end of winter, spring arrives.

Such joy I have never known; the passion,

Intensity and warmth of your embrace,

Wonders to me I can scarcely believe.

Spring slowly drifts away, and

The splendour of summer begins.

I bathe in the radiance of your sunshine,

Find vitality in your warmth.

You are ardent, lovely and a marvel to me.

Every hour, every minute,

Every second I spend with you I feel blessed.

I watch as your eyes slowly open,

Gaze up at me,

You smile and

Summer begins.
