Poem that won a poetry slam for me.
I take an ounce of who I am and pour it down the drain
Every time I hear your voice tell me that I'm to blame.
I can hear you whisper painful truths inside my ear.
I ask you to stop, but you know that it adds to my fear.
You give a sultry laugh and your finger traces down my face.
I try to keep myself calm and my heart at a steady pace.

I glare at you angrily and other people start to stare
As they see me fidget with discomfort in my chair.
Your grin turns more malicious, your eyes turn white with fury
Even though you're in my head, you're the judge and you're the jury.
You throw more insults at me in the blink of an eye,
And me, very frightened, just tries not to cry.

I stand and run away from your voice.
My fear and anxiety leave me no choice.
You corner me into a place that's so empty.
Your flowing words make my thoughts feel so tempting
I search desperately for something to pierce my skin.
Your condescending smirk makes me know that you win.

A brand new bleeding slice; what a wonderful sight.
I hear your words, and I know that they're right.

It's all your fault,
It's all your fault.
You're the one to blame.
You made yourself go insane.

I don't doubt you.
