Kade wakes again, and this time gets some answers.
-KadeandOther, wake up.-

That damn voice is starting to get annoying.

-Now KadeandOther, surely you do not expect us to believe you are asleep.-

The voice had been talking since I regained consciousness about five minutes ago, and it WON'T SHUT UP. I've been thinking about what's happened, and trying to fit it into some my version of reality. It wasn't working.

-You will not get the answers you seek by laying there, KadeandOther.-

"You're right," I sighed, "You're right." then swung my legs over the side of my bed-table. My headache was gone, so now I got a clear look at the "person". It was about five feet tall, and had roughly six fingers on each hand, including the now-alarming needle that was where the pinkie would be on a normal human's right hand. I had difficulty counting the fingers, because of another unique quality this "person" had. It changed colors constantly, never having the same color for more than a few seconds. The edges of the figure blurred into the wall behind it, making the figure seem like a moving painting on canvas.

-KadeandOther, we have been tasked with answering your questions.-

I stared for another second, searching for any sort of mouth where this thing was talking from, but then gave up. "You're telepathic, I'm guessing?"

-We can only send our thoughts, so you can be secure in your minds privacy.-

Hm. That's good to know. "I didn't um... 'hear' all of your earlier explanation. Something about humanity's path, and my role in it?"

-We said that we wish you to start humanity on the path to galactic and domestic acceptance.-

"What do you mean by that?"

-All sentient races are bound by one rule before they may join the galactic community; they must have planet wide peace for one thousand planetary cycles. If so much as one armed intervention occurs, the 'timer' is restarted.-

"And what about the 'form modifications' you mentioned?"

-We adjusted your skeletal structure, making it impossible to be bent, broken, and/or crushed.-

"I'm gonna forget you said that. I don't even wanna think about the reason you would want to make me invulnerable."

-We believe the term is 'immortal'.-

"Immortal? Like no natural or violent death?"

-Yes.-

"Like before, I'm not gonna ask. And why do you call me 'KadeandOther'? My name's just Kade."

-Not anymore. We added another, to help control the new additions to your form. Besides, to be alone is horrid.-

"Other... like in another mind? Or a consciousness?"

-Yes. An Other-

"And all of your people have these... Others?"

-Yes.-

"Okay, that satisfies my first questions... But there is one more. What happens to those who make it to space before the time limit is reached? Like my people?"

-We attempt to distract that species, with mass paranoia of an imminent alien invasion.-

I sat there, staring at this creature, and just started laughing. Not very mature, I know.

Once I finished I asked, "What happens to the ones that aren't distracted?"

-They are... given a stern warning before they become a galactic nuisance.-

"Am I Earth's warning?"

-Very bluntly, yes.-

"Forget it."

-You have little choice in the matter.-

"I won't do it."

-You must.-

"I want to go back to my home, to my family, to Earth. I want to have my normal life again!" I had slowly started to increase in volume, and by now I was screaming at this... this damn alien that expected me to punish my whole species for our accomplishments. "Find some other fool to be your 'messenger'."

-You have no life to return to, KadeandOther.-

I jumped off my table, and took a long stride, then had a grip around the alien's neck. I pushed it against the wall, and tightened my grip.

"What the hell are you talking about?"

-We killed you.-
