MOONLIT KISSES

Where did the magic go? So many years have passed
since I felt the need for the love and warmth you offered.
So many nights we stood together, walked hand in hand,
watching the moon slowly rise over the crest of the hills.

We shared moonlit kisses, felt the passion, the love
that burned within our hearts, a flame never equaled.
You were my lover, my friend, my guide, my inspiration.
I could not have survived without having you by my side.

How could it disappear into a wisp of fog, with silence
replacing the carefree conversations that filled our souls
as we planned for our future together? Somehow love
vanished into the nothingness of separation and divorce.

All that is left is the memory of those moonlit kisses.
I wish I could say that it doesn't matter anymore at all,
but I would be lying to myself, I miss you being there
and holding you close. You always will be in my heart.
