By: Paisley

2) POV Character:
Desiree Beaupree

Other Major Characters:

Husky Miller – Detective

Jack – Sidekick

Declan Beaupree – Brother to Desiree

Locust Landover – Dead Guy

3) Rewrite with Husky Miller POV

Husky was beginning to feel he would always be two steps behind in apprehending the elusive Locust, playboy and swindler. It beat Husky why any woman would even be interested in dating such a guy named after an insect, but he had seen worse scenarios in his 20 years with the force. And that was the thing. He had to find and arrest Locust Landover, otherwise his boss, not so affectionately referred to as Lardass, wouldn’t give him the promotion he deserved. Well maybe he didn’t quite deserve it, but he wanted it just the same to be rid of his sidekick, Jack the Nerd. Jack was not just nerdy, but chatty, and very quick to let Husky know when he wasn’t following proper procedure.

Husky, already cranky and tired told Jack to drive to the Rage – a not so secret nightclub that operated out of the old furniture factory along the canal. They both could hear the raucous of disturbing music before they even turned into the seedy underbelly of the city. Husky patted his weapon and then picked at the crusty mustard stain on the shirt he had just purchased from the Big & Tall Shop.

Once inside, Husky had Jack scout the dance floor for Locust, while he grilled the Goth girl behind the bar. Husky thought she could be pretty, but was disgusted by all the nose, eyebrow, lip, and tongue ring hardware. He found it ironic that she didn’t have rings on her earlobes. Her name tag said her name was Sin.

“What the hell kind of name is Sin?” Husky yelled over the music.

Not the least bit intimidated, the Goth girl yelled back, “It’s short for Sindy.”

“That’s better. Tell me, Sindy, have you seen or know Locust Lanover?”

“Oh yeah, he left with a skinny chick.”

“Any name for the skinny chick?”

“Well she paid with a credit card – let me check.” She popped open the register and lifted the tray stuffed with money. “Here it is – her name is Desiree Beaupree. They went through that curtain under the exit sign about ten minutes ago.” She pointed in the direction opposite the dance floor. "There's an old furniture museum back there - check it out." Sin smiled and Husky counted five rings in her eyebrow. Three rings poked the left nostril and a diamond stud in the right. The silver ball on her tongue was a major distraction.

Husky straightened up and tugged on his shirt. He felt his luck was changing tonight. Now where the hell was Jack, he thought.

4) The story became different in that now the backstory centers on the detective's hunt for Locust Landover. In my story we concentrate on Desiree, the new vampire, who is so hungry she drains Locust completely.
