A vampire cleans up after another.
My footsteps echoed through the night as my figure slipped from shadow to shadow my red leather bodice raising my breasts and holding them tight, my midriff on display before the black tight curve hugging jeans hit the long black boots, my jacket fanning behind me I stole down a darkened alley the only light was a flaming barrel surrounded by homeless people trying to keep warm, others lay in the cardboard boxes and beneath newspaper strewn around the alley. I reached the end of the alley and jumped landing on a fire escape and I continued upwards to the rooftop.
“Police are investigating the disappearance of a 16 year old boy, missing for two days the boy was last seen walking home from a friends place after dark...” the TV was switched off. I watched silently from the open window. The girl inside the bedroom bursting into tears, from this I knew that she was close to the missing person. I slid silently from the window and continued on my nightly spree. I ran along the edge of the roof top and let my body jump and fall from the top to the road landing crouched I looked around and saw someone, or thing , watching me. The smell of blood reached my nostrils and I slowly stood my eyes on the ground I looked up and the figure was a little closer.
It wasn’t human. Well it took the human form but the growl coming from the body told me it was a lycan, part human part wolf. I stepped towards him and he growled softly his bare chest rising and falling was smeared with blood.
“You have a recent kill” my lyrics came huskily, He looked at his hands and gasped
“What have I become?” his whisper almost inaudible. I turned to leave and he swiftly followed
I walked with him back to my building and into the darkened basement his eyes drifting around taking in the dead body hanging from the chains. I looked at him and he dropped his gaze
“The recent kill, where is it?” I asked
I was a vampire living in the middle of the city I was safe from discovery until this lycan had shown himself, I had only killed humans when I needed to and it was always a homeless person or someone who wouldn’t be missed, But this lycan had blown both our covers.
“The under pass beneath the train track” he said crumpling to the floor.
“Stay put I won’t be long” I said and fled the building to the roof. It was very rare that I took to the sky as i could be more easily seen, but tonight’s sky held cloud cover and I jumped and began to soar. The thrill of flying was one I learnt young a few years after I was found abandoned in an empty cemetery. I knew the city well and it took me but minutes to find the kill site. I hovered and looked around, no human in sight I dipped and flew horizontal to the gravel but three feet from the ground I scooped the body into my arms in passing and flew up to land on the train tracks the late train was due and I held the body I closed my eyes as the train rounded the bend and was heading towards us. I jumped to the side at the last minute leaving the body standing the train collided, erasing the evidence of the lycan’s part in the murder.
I took to the sky again knowing the tracks would be full of humans within half an hour.
