short story about a boy who is in love with a girl and their journey together.
They walked down the path hand-in-hand. They held hands through it all; through the puddles; over the fallen branches; and through the beautiful fields. She was everything to him. He knew she would always be the one to make him smile; the one to give him purpose; the one that he used to dream of. He was special to her. He would always say the right thing and she knew he would always cheer her up when her world came crashing down. They met in high school and haven't left each others side since. Never unhappy to see each other they explored the world together. They went to Rome, Paris, and London and not one of these places could compare to her beauty.

When he first saw her he felt an unusual turn in his stomach. He knew from the beginning that she was different. She looked at him and smiled as if she had something to tell him. He thought of that look for days before coming to the conclusion that it meant nothing. He wanted more than anything for a sure sign that she liked him. He's been hurt so many times before, it's hard to let people know his true feelings. Either way, he would watch for little signs everyday and in a world of subtleties she was the master.

One day in school he went for it and put his heart on the line. He told her that he has never felt so strongly about a person before and that she was the most beautiful girl in the universe. He told her that all he wants is to spend the rest of his life with her in his arms staring at the stars for he knows they would be jealous of her beauty and the envious moon could only look in awe as they passed by. He told her that her smile made his day and she could make him happy without even having to try. He could go on for days about all of the things that are perfect about her but, she stopped him... She didn't say anything just took him by the hand and they walked to class when it was time to part ways they hugged and he said "goodbye, see you soon." she turned back and with a smirk said "maybe."

He didn't know what to say to that so he said nothing and went to class. He thought all hour about what she meant by that. This went on for months until one day they were walking in the woods.

The beauty of nature surrounded them. It became part of them. A giant oak tree that had fallen in a vicious storm provided a perfect make-shift bench. Covered in moss the tree was home to an array of wildlife. They sat and observed how one tree made such a difference. They saw the squirrels playing and the baby birds chirping for food. They looked at each other. She looked as delightful as always. The light shining through the holes scattered in the tree tops illuminated her, making her seem almost angelic. A lilac bush, that was more purple than any he had seen before, flourished by the felled oak. The sweet scent filled the air. The bees were buzzing lazily about, getting their share of the precious nectar. He reached over and picked a few flowers for her. She kindly took them and they walked back.

When they arrived at her home he walked her to her door and gave her a hug but, there was something different about this hug. It wasn't just a hug goodbye, it had a deeper meaning than that. It was a hug that said she cared and that she doesn't want him to ever go. This sweet embrace seemed to last for hours. They were happy to be held by each other and it was truly a perfect moment.

From then on things were different. They weren't just friends... They weren't dating but they were something special. She knew he would always be there for her and likewise with him. Everyone that knew them couldn't picture one without the other; it was just the way it was meant to be.

In the beginning everyone around him told him to give up, that no matter what she would never like him. He wouldn't budge, he loved her and would wait until the end of time just to be with her.

Love is an amazing thing. Always on its own accord it comes as it pleases and infects people at random. But, every once in awhile this spectacular emotion would grace someone in dear need of love. And that person will be happy just knowing that he is in love, that he has something to hope for, that there is someone out there that can complete him. Love is uncontrollable, undeniable, and unbearable, yet, to live without love is not living at all... Sometimes people will try to pull you apart...

But in this case it seemed as if the world had wanted them to be together.
