The Silent Goodbye
By Savanna Ewing

The stillness of the air proves that something once was there.
We both know what is going on,
We neither want to say goodbye.
It’s all I can do not to cry.
You look in my eyes, and I know this is a silent
Goodbye.

Our hands fit together so perfectly.
And our hearts beat on the same tempo.
But one of us is off,
One of us I beating to a new beat.
Where did the memories go?
What happened to, baby it’s you and me.
And then I know this is a silent
Goodbye.

In the same eyes I saw forever shining through.
Now reflect neglect and loss.
You fumble nervously with the hands,
That once touched me so tenderly I cried.
You look away, and then I know this is a silent
Goodbye.

My lips are trembling; you know they do that when I cry.
Not too long ago, you’d be holding me telling me not cry,
Now is stillness no movement from you.
You just stand there and watch,
Dare I say you look frustrated with my grief?
Are you ready for me to turn and walk away?
Then I see in your face, and I know this a silent
Goodbye.

Forgive me for crying, this silence is crushing me.
All our love and life, and I am not worth a word solace.
Can you really just stand there, and have no care at all?
You said you loved me, if that were so then tell me how are you so calm.
Then there it is you wave me on, and then I know this is a silent
Goodbye. Goodbye…..
