About being in love with a drinker
The Drinking Man
By Savanna Ewing

I sit alone, waiting on the phone.
To tell me you’re alright, saying you made it home.
Sometimes that ring never comes.
And I left to wonder, are you ok?

I breathe in deeply, begging for your reply.
Do you know how I hurt, how I cry?
Every time you’re out of sight, I lose all my might.
And I am left my fright that you won’t make through the night.
I need to know you ok so please tell me so.

He’s just a man, who loves two.
He’s true to you, until that bottle bends.
Over and over again this never ends.
He is yours alone, until the glass is full.
Your tears are fallen rain on a dessert.
They will dry as soon your cry them,
His heat burns too hot for them to cool.
And in the end your just fool who loves
The drinking man .

The liquid is sweet for you, but how bitter to me.
I have your heart, when it’s releases you.
I am second to the lifestyle.
And I am alone, hoping that the phone won’t say.
You’ve gone away….

Give me a new day, when you won’t say
I’m sorry babe this is just my way.
I love you still, but I am going tonight.
The bottle calls and I must answer.
Don’t you worry your own my mind tonight,
But baby I’m gonna go.

I love you so, but this is hard to know.

Harder still to understand.
You are just a man,
And I woman,
Would you stay is I told you I needed you.
Or would still say I must go away for now,
But you know I’ll be back on Monday.
