Poem of a lost chance at love.
YOU
By Lou Cypher

These are the words I should have spoken,
A little show of loves sweet token.
For so long I have always been behind You,
But I have forever longed to be beside You.

My love is like a shadow in your eyes,
But now is not the time for lies.
I loved you like no other,
But you just treat me like nothing more than a brother.

You are my night sky,
I loved you so much I thought I might cry.
Even the moons beauty pales to You,
I tried to make it clear, but I was invisible to You.

I hung to your every word,
But mine were never heard.
I followed you to and fro,
But no matter how hard I tried, your love wouldn’t grow.

I watched as you went out with another,
When it should have been me and no other.
My heart breaks every time I think of You,
I wish it could have been me and You.

But I know it was never meant to be,
It took years, but I eventually I did see.
My love for you was ever so real,
But it wasn’t an emotion you learnt to feel.

I did, do and will always love
YOU
