What makes you uncomfortable? (2nd Place Crusader's Monthly Contest September 2010)

Written for "Invalid Item"   by A Guest Visitor

Not every seven seconds;
no one could dream
thousands of times a day.

But close,
although you know you shouldn’t.

On the subway
the morning (and evening) commute
it’s perfectly alright to peek
without making eye contact;
an acceptable outlet
that’s all look and no touch.

The name of the game
(but that’s not how you were raised)
is dirty thoughts equal dirty deeds.

So clearly filthy you
because good girls don’t.

Maybe they’re as afraid as you are?

Omnivorous
all-consuming desires:
would they be normal
were you a man?

There’s a truth
everyone knows:
bad things happen
to bad girls,

the ones who ask for it.

What does it matter
that you said no today,
if you said yes before?

That still makes you a whore.
That’s the kind of girl
you always be –

easy.
