July 2011 will mark a decade of being smoke free.
Quitting

One day I smoked; needing the poison I got to hum.
Then I didn't with the help of some gum.

One week I craved but, did not meekly cave in.
Two weeks, then three, still stong resove within.

One month went by, chest pains have stopped.
Two, three, even five, now the battle half fought.

No more hacking coughs, or constant hazy sight.
No more smell of smoke, for I have seen the light.

Ten maybe fifteen years, added to my life to allow.
More time to enjoy this, existence at least for now.
