just a few more thoughts, from that dark place in my head

The light that I cant see
201010.05

This isn't what I dreamed of, back when I still had dreams
standing in an empty house, and fearing hollow screams
looking across the back yard, watching squirrels at play
dreading tomorrow, because it's just another empty day

set another empty bottle, next to the six that came before
light another cigarette, and wonder what its all been for
two cars are in the driveway, both of them older than me
If there's a light at the end of the tunnel, it's one that I cant see

to old to dream, or so it seems
to afraid to scream, for what it means
to proud to cry, I have only sighs
no answers why, yet I still try

falling forward into the oblivion,
of time worn ruts
holding back the words in fear,
that they'll think I'm nuts
when clouds are only clouds,
and pain like sand upon the beach
whats the point of dreaming,
when the rainbows out of reach

the Kids are almost grown, heading out to live their lives
every time I think of it, I almost break down and cry
the house is already empty, and I'm running out of time
death is only waiting, and I'm already in the line

I set another empty bottle, next to the eight that came before
light another cigarette, wonder if there isn't something more
scraping by on failing hopes, and dreams never meant to be
If there's a light at the end of the tunnel, it's one that I cant see
