She wanted to write poetry, but was told she could only write a short story.
She wanted to write poetry, but was told it was taboo. Her soul ached to sing out in melodic verse, but that would have been a crime. Thus, to satisfy her need for baring her soul to the world, she was forced to write in a style foreign to her nature.

Instead of expressing the peace in her soul, she was required to write of robots that took over the world. In the end they crashed and burned because of mankinds strength and endurance. Flights of fancy to wondrous worlds of sound and color were replaced with flights to Mars and beyond. The blue alien who met the travelers in space was the wrong color. He had been ostracized from his society. The dull landscape and silence of space all but quenched her dazzling spirit.

But, when it came to the Moon, she was completely immersed in in its grandeur. The glowing light from its face beamed on her with tenderness. Words could not describe the peace that flooded her heart, nor the awe that overwhelmed her soul. Poetry was not necessary. Prose was not possible. This was her moment and she didn't have to share it with anyone.

She wanted to write of poetry, but found that poetry lives in the soul and doesn't need to be written. Poetry has its life within her.
